In addition to the University of Miami--home of the Miami Hurricanes--Miami-Dade Community College is the largest community college in the United States. Dozens of smaller and medium-sized institutions for the study of medicine, law, technical colleges, liberal arts, and scientific studies make the Miami area one of the top educational centers in the nation. Several highly-regarded online universities such as the University of Phoenix and Walden University have branch campuses in Miami.

If you're thinking of heading to a Miami university, Florida International in Miami is definitely one to consider. True to its name, Miami΄s public institution of higher learning is home to 34,000 students representing more than 130 countries, making it one of the largest universities in the country. Students can choose from nearly 200 areas of study, including nationally ranked creative writing, management information systems and hospitality departments. Registering for School
If you're relocating to Miami with a school aged student, you need to know the registration requirements. If you have a kindergartener, they need to have turned 5 on or before September 1. To enter first grade, the student needs to have turned 6 on or before September 1 and they must have completed Kindergarten. To register, students need proof of age, immunization records, records of a physical exam within one year or enrollment and proof of residence. If your student is transferring from another school, that school should provide report cards and other records and information to the new school.

Miami University
One of the largest private research universities in the southeast, Miami University serves more than 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students in its 12 schools and colleges. Students can choose from more than 150 majors in areas as diverse as architecture, business administration, nursing, engineering and much more.
