Tip of the Week

It may not be the biggest or most luxurious, but perhaps the most unique hotel in all of Miami is the Pelican South Beach Miami hotel. Built in the early 1990s at the height of the city’s European fashionista invasion, the hotel’s 30 rooms are designed on a different theme with its own brand of kitsch. With rooms dubbed "Me Tarzan, You Vain," or "Best Whorehouse," the Pelican takes the concept of escapism to an entirely new level. If you want to go all-out, try the Penthouse, with three bedrooms, two baths and eclectic furnishings such as 1960s-style Schultz chairs and a six-foot round tropical fish tank embedded in a copper wall. For reservations, call (800) 7-PELICAN.
