About 17 percent of the population of Miami Florida is over 65, roughly in line with the rest of the state. That doesn´t mean Miami and the surrounding areas are only for older people, though. The median age in the state in just shy of 38; about 15 percent is 25-34 years old and another 15 percent is 35-44. About 25 percent of the population is under 21.
